Peanut

Peanut, May 2, 2005-August 23, 2023.
Peanut was always adored all his life. He came from and into two loving homes. His first four years he got to stay with his cat-mom and cat-sisters and his first human mom and papa. He joined our family in 2010. We said he was a Buddha because he was never-ending patient and turned the other cheek when our rescue cat, Scout, got scared and hissy or our rescue puppy got rambunctious. He also had a bit of a Buddha-like physique. He assisted Scout in her “hunting expeditions” of the occasional insect or toy mice, and let her take charge. When our rescue street-puppy, Gifford, joined the family, Peanut welcomed him with open paws, and they were inseparable ever since, playing and cuddling together. Peanut defied the odds of kidney and heart disease. We got 3 bonus weeks to say goodbye, during which time he ate whatever he wanted and with gusto, climbed, explored, played, cuddled, enjoyed the sunshine, and purred. Oh how he purred all the time, not just those 3 weeks, but ALL the time, all of his life, any time was awake, and oh so loudly too. His passing was gentle and absolutely as peaceful as can be. We miss him so, and he is ever-present in our hearts.
